On March 18, a delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation headed by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Gerardo Peñalver Portal visited Lobachevsky University. During the meeting, Acting Rector Kirill Markov discussed with the Cuban delegation the increase in the number of Cuban students at Lobachevsky University and the prospects for developing UNN’s cooperation with universities in Cuba. The Cuban Ambassador noted: “Lobachevsky University is a world-class university, and we believe that there should be more Cuban students at the UNN, so we will work with our Ministry of Education to expand opportunities for our young people to study at Lobachevsky University. In the course of the talks, the parties discussed the areas of training that are of interest to Cuba and possible steps for developing and expanding cooperation.

“Since the time of the Soviet Union, Cuba has been a reliable friend and partner. This is not the first time when we host a high and representative Cuban delegation, so we hope that the number of Cubans studying at our University will grow. We are interested in this, and we will participate in the export of education,” emphasized Kirill Markov. The delegation also visited the UNN Museum and met with Cuban students who are studying at Lobachevsky University.
