From September 21 to September 23,  an international workshop "Development of cooperation between Russia and Germany in the field of alternative energy" takes place at Lobachevsky University. The opening ceremony of the workshop was attended by Nikita Avralev, Vice-Rector for Public Relations, Mikhail Rusakov, research officer at the German Embassy in Moscow, Ilya Korshunov, Deputy Minister for Investment, Land and Property Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and Dr. Peter Hiller, Head of the German House of Research and Innovation and the German Academic Exchange Service. Earlier, on September 20, Dr. Peter Hiller met with the Rector of Lobachevsky University Evgeny Chuprunov to  discuss the problems and prospects for development of international relations between Russia and Germany.

Taking part in the workshop are German scientists well known for their work in the field of alternative energy: Professor Dieter Woehrle, who works in the field of solar-based energy sources,  Professor Karl Herbert Klug, an expert in the field of conversion of wind energy into electricity, and Professor Winfried Schmidt who will report on the progress in the field of biomass processing and conversion to energy. Representatives of ZENIT GmbH, Michael Nolde and Susanne Jacobs-Bohack, also participate in the workshop. During the workshop, an exhibition “Renewables - made in Germany” will take place at the University. The technological exhibition ”Renewables - made in Germany” was developed at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Energy Agency. It introduces visitors to the main types of renewable energy, the advantages of different technologies for producing such energy, the principles of these technologies and high-tech solutions in this field. The exhibition is open at the conference hall of UNN (Building No.2) till September 23.
