A friendly footsal match took place on March 21, the International Day Against Racial Discrimination, at the Meshchersky Physical Fitness Center in Nizhny Novgorod. The match between a team of international students from Lobachevsky University and a team of coaches of Nizhny Novgorod children's and youth football schools was held in support of FIFA values of fair play, anti-discrimination and counteracting racism. According to the captain of the coaches’ team, Director of Football Sport School No.8 Vyacheslav Semin, the football team of UNN international students has existed for several years. Students actively participate in tournaments and show a decent level of performance. "We try to build relationships with these students so that they not only study, but also play football. They are good players and would be quite competitive in the regional championship," the athlete believes. “I think that any cases of manifestation of racism can be associated only with the lack of culture. Now players are more educated and respectful to each other regardless of nationality. To them, there is just one nationality - a football player".

The match ended with the victory of the international students’ team with a score of 4 : 2. All participants and spectators received memorable gifts with the symbols of Nizhny Novgorod, the host city of the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia ™. Events dedicated to the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination were also held in other cities that will host the World Cup. The FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia ™ will be held in 11 cities of the Russian Federation from June 14 to July 15, 2018. Six matches of the world football championship will be played in Nizhny Novgorod.
