The Academic Choir of Lobachevsky University ranked 92 in the INTERKULTUR World Rankings.  Choirs according to the INTERKULTUR World Rankings (Germany). A total of 8 Russian choirs ranked among the top-100 best choirs: 5 children’s choirs from the Kamchatka Peninsula, Krasnogorsk, Blagoveshchensk and Moscow, as well as 3 academic choirs. The Academy of Choral Arts Chamber Choir (Moscow) and the Gnesins' Ensemble of Contemporary Music "Altro coro" (Moscow), two other Russian student choirs included in the list together with Lobachevsky University, represent professional institutions of musical education.  To compare, Lobachevsky University ranked 257 in 2014.

The INTERKULTUR ranking was established in 2000 and ranks the top 1000 choirs from all over the world.   

The ranking is published by INTERKULTUR, the world's leading organizer of international choir competitions and festivals since 1988. The largest and most famous event organized by INTERKULTUR is the World Choir Games. In 2016, the Academic Choir of Lobachevsky University became the champion in the "Pop Music" category at the World Choir Games in Sochi.
