The international conference of chemical scientists «Materials Science of the Future: Research, Development, Scientific Training» opened at Lobachevsky University on 17 November. The conference was organized by Lobachevsky University in cooperation with the All-Russian Public Organization «Russian Professors’ Assembly». Conference participants were welcomed by Mikhail Ivanchenko, UNN Vice-Rector for Research, and Alexander Knyazev, Dean of the UNN Faculty of Chemistry. Taking part in the conference were chemists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Kazan, Perm, Krasnoyarsk, Vladikavkaz, Voronezh, Tver, Arkhangelsk, Saransk and Murmansk, as well as from Poland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Serbia, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Brazil and Indonesia.

In the course of the three-day event, scientists discussed the current state of affairs and development prospects in all areas of materials science, as well as various issues related to training highly qualified personnel and achieving a closer consolidation of Russian science, business and higher education for addressing fundamental and applied problems.
