Home - News - Russian culture festival held at Lobachevsky University

19 December 2016

On December 15, the festival of Russian culture "Lingonberry Jam" was held on UNN  campus. It was the fourth time for this city youth festival, which was first held in 2013 on the initiative of Lobachevsky University and gathered hundreds of young people of Nizhni Novgorod. Festival guests took part in a variety of workshops where they were taught to make felt boots, traditional Russian amulet dolls, Christmastide masks and to paint matryoshka dolls and Christmas toys. UNN students organized a "restaurant day" where everyone could taste traditional dishes and culinary novelties with lingonberry jam. Professional and amateur folk groups presented an entertainment program, as well as interactive games and contests. Participants were also offered horse rides, round dances with Father Frost and could even slide down a snow-and-ice hill. The event organizers have succeeded in creating a real New Year celebration atmosphere!
