The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has announced the results of the competitive selection of research projects to be carried out by university research centers and laboratories with the support of the Ministry.  16 research projects of Lobachevsky University are listed among the winners of the competition and will receive financial support in 2017 within the framework of the government order. This result is one of the best among the Russian universities. А total of 444 projects from 125 organizations nationwide have been selected by the Ministry commission with the participation of the Ministry’s Council for Science and the Project Office of the National Technology Initiative - from more than 2500 applications submitted. The total amount of funds earmarked for supporting all the projects is 2,9 billion roubles. The projects are aimed at achieving results in a wide range of areas, including the study of physical and chemical processes, the development of innovative software, bioengineering projects, neurocontrolled robotics, etc. Some examples of the research topics to be pursued by Lobachevsky University scientists this year include a new class of ferromagnetic semiconductor compounds for spintronic devices, quantum metamaterials for modern information technology, universal preparations  for the regeneration of human tissue, personalized photodynamic therapy, advanced high-strength structural ceramics for applications in mechanical and aerospace engineering.
