On March 20, the 12th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Asian Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) opened in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. As a year ago at the previous conference in Melbourne, Russian institutions participating in the 5-100 Project were represented by a joint exhibition stand at this major professional event in the Asia-Pacific region that brings together higher education experts from around the globe. Representatives of higher education institutions discussed current trends and prospects for cooperation in research and academic mobility. Within the framework of the conference, a session of the 5-100 Project devoted to international education in Russia was held on March 22,  At this session, Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Lobachevsky University, Vera Upirova, Deputy Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation of the Southern Federal University, Victoria Panova, Director of the Eastern Institute - School for Regional and International Studies of the Far Eastern Federal University, and Olga Troitskaya, Chief Specialist of the 5-100 Project presented their reports. Russian experts described the latest trends in Russia’s policy in the field of education and the peculiarities of the national educational market. They also spoke about the Russian universities’  potential in terms of institutional partnership and joint research with universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

The APAIE Conference and Exhibition is the main forum for international education in the Asia-Pacific region and one of the three largest in the world along with NAFSA and EAIE. At each of these events, the 5-100 Project organizes large-scale stands representing almost all the universities of the Project. The participation of Russian institutions of higher education in such forums contributes to the internationalization of universities and the development of new international partnerships in the field of education.
