"To date, Roskataliz is the largest national event in the field of catalysis science, which regularly attracts a wide range of interested participants from all over Russia and from other countries. Roskataliz Congress unites representatives of academic science and industry, professors and engineers of oil refineries, academicians and university students. Holding the Roskataliz Congress and similar events is the best way to restore and consolidate the Russian science, business, and higher education in the field of fundamental and applied problems of catalysis",  said the Chairman of the Scientific Council on Catalysis of the RAS, Research Director of the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the RAS, laureate of the prize "Global Energy" Academician Valentin Parmon in his welcome address. At the opening session of the Congress, the Vice-Rector for Research of Lobachevsky University Victor Kazantsev presented the main achievements in the research and innovation activities of the UNN in recent years. 

Igor Sazonov, Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhni Novgorod region, underlined in his speech: "The fact that the III Russian Congress on Catalysis is taking place in Nizhni Novgorod confirms the high prestige of our scientific school and the high level of our production base".

The organizers of the congress include:  Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of the RAS Siberian Branch;   Lobachevsky University; Novosibirsk National Research University; Moscow State University; Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the RAS; Topchiev Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis of the RAS; Alekseev Nizhni Novgorod State Technical University. PJSC Gazprom Neft is the general sponsor of the event.

The work of the Congress is divided into 4 sections: physical and chemical basis of catalysis; scientific basis for the production of catalysts; promising catalytic processes; industrial catalysts and catalytic processes. Young researchers’ school  on catalysis "Physical and chemical methods of research - the key to understanding the principles of catalytic action" will be also held within the framework of the Congress.  The subjects for discussion at the Congress include: the current state of affairs and prospects for development in all areas of catalysis, the search for new opportunities for import substitution for strategically important catalysts and chemical products, the training of highly qualified personnel, closer consolidation of Russian science, business and higher education for solving fundamental and applied problems of catalysis. A series of events in the framework of the III Russian Congress on catalysis "Roskataliz" will last until May 26.
