On November 21, Karolina Kluczewska, research associate of the Maria Sklodowska-Curie program at the University of St. Andrews (UK), gave an open lecture at the UNN Faculty of Law. The lecture on the topic "The European Union and Central Asia: the state of affairs and prospects for interaction" was organized within the framework of the project "Jean Monet's module "The European Union as a global actor in the field of human rights" (http://euglobe.ru/euglobe-project/) implemented at the UNN Faculty of Law (project manager – A.S. Leonov).

In her lecture, Karolina Kluczewska examined how and why the European Union had developed an interest in Central Asia, what kind of approaches the EU is using to work with this region, and how this cooperation developed over time. Some peculiarities of the mutual perception of the EU and its partners in Central Asia were discussed and exemplified by the reform of Tajikistan’s education system. A number of other changes and initiatives supported by the EU were also considered. In conclusion, the prospects for establishing mutual understanding and improving relations between the EU and Central Asia were analyzed. The lecture was attended by teachers and students of the Bachelor's and Master's programs of the UNN Faculty of Law and the Institute of International Relations and World History.
