Dmitry Mikhailov, a third-year student of the UNN Faculty of Law won gold in the junior category (weight up to 68 kilograms) at the World Championship that was held in Novi Sad (Serbia) from October 12 to 16. This event brought together more than 500 juniors and young juniors from 80 countries.

Dmitry Mikhailov: "After winning the second place at the Russian Championship, I got the right to compete in the European Championship. On April 20, I won at the European Youth and Junior Sambo Championships in Prague (Czech Republic), and the national team coaches said that I should go to the World Championship instead of my rival in the finals at the national championship. The most difficult part was to reduce the weight (I had an extra 7 kg). In Novi Sad, I had four encounters with rivals from Holland, Israel, Serbia. The worst one was in the finals against the athlete from Georgia, whom I also met at the European Championship. Thanks to my previous experience, I won 10:2 (ahead of time). My future plans include participation at the Russian Championship in judo and sambo (among men)".
