The international collegiate programming contest ACM ICPC was held
Phuket (Thailand) from 15 to 19 May. Only 128 teams from all over the
world made it to the final round. The Contest gathered 13422 teams from
2736 universities from 102 countries.

Only 12 Russian teams managed to reach the final round: Ural Federal
University, Saint-Petersburg State University, Moscow Institute of
Physics and Technology, Moscow State University, ITMO, Lobachevsky
University, Saratov State University, Saint-Petersburg Academic
University, Innopolis, MEPHI, Northern (Arctic) Federal University, and
Moscow Aviation Institute.

As a result, the organizing committee awarded 4 sets of medals to 12
teams. The team from Saint-Petersburg State University became the
absolute champion of this competition. The Lobachevsky University team
(Vladislav Epifanov, Nikolai Kalinin, and Mikhail Krivonosov; Coach -
Nikolai Borisov) won bronze medals.

Evgeny Chuprunov, Rector of Lobachevsky University mentioned that this
achievement of UNN students vividly demonstrates that Lobachevsky
University keeps IT education at the highest level. This translates to
the quality of education and research and innovation projects of our
faculty members.

In 2011, Lobachevsky University team won silver medals at ACM ICPC.

Next year the finals of the Contest will be hosted by Rapid City, USA.
