Lobachevsky University (UNN) hosted Spring Breeze, its English Language Festival, at UNN Old Auditorium, on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street, on April 14. This is a festival initiated by the Department of English for Humanities.

The Festival annually sees students of a number of faculties and institutes – the Institute of Biology and Biomedicine, the Institute of IT, Math and Mechanics, the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship, the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of PE and Sports, the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Law – involved in a series of activities promoting the use of English, including musical and theatre performances, poetry readings and anecdotal jokes. Each academic unit is represented by one or two teams.

This year’s festival was opened by Liudmila Ruchina, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, and Мarina Zolotova, Head of the Department of English for Humanities. The Faculty is very proud of hosting the English Language Festival every year. One of the aims is to encourage students to perfect their English language skills and communicate more effectively in an English-speaking environment. The event allows attendees the opportunity to experience a slice of the carnival spirit. The panel of judges chooses the winner. This year a team of psychology students, called ‘Victoria’, won the Festival.
