Russian language teachers from Finnish schools along with Finnish academics benefited from high quality training in teaching Russian as a foreign language.

‘Features of the Russian World: Language and Culture’, an intensive one week programme for Russian language teachers from Finnish Association of Teachers of Russian Language, was held by the University’s Faculty of Philology and Faculty for International Students from June 7 to 13.

Finish teachers and academics enhanced teaching skills in modern methods of teaching Russian and took part in round-table discussions on current trends, recent vocabulary changes, the impact of the Internet on colloquial speech, the problems of contemporary Russian society and questions raised by contemporary literature.

It was also a great chance for them to meet professionals who successfully run projects in the cultural and museum sector.

Described as very efficient, the programme was praised for its added value in terms of promoting effective teaching of Russian as a foreign language.
