On April 26, Chayka beat SKA-1946 (Saint Petersburg hockey team) 4-1 in Game 5 of the final series of the Junior Hockey League playoffs and became the Kharlamov Cup champion.

Six students from Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod (UNN) were members of this winning team, namely Andrey Tikhomirov, Nikolai Molkov, Ivan Komarov, Ilya Babrusev, Ilya Yamkin and Daniil Ilin.

Nizhny Novgorod Club has become the Junior Hockey League champion for the first time in its history.

According to the official website, the Junior Hockey League unites 71 clubs representing cities of Russia, Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova and Poland, which means more than 1000 hockey players aged between 17 and 20 years.
