Tuesday 10 March saw the discussion of changing role of universities and first in series of research seminars by Prof. Allard van Riel from the Nijmegen School of Management, Radboud University, the Netherlands.

Prof. Dr. Allard C.R. van Riel is known for his research in the fields of management and marketing (his Hirsch Index is 19). He is the author of more than 80 books.

The seminar on “Aspects of Publication Activities in the EU” was opened with a warm welcome from Prof. Alexander Grudzinskiy, First Vice-Rector and Director of UNN Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship.

Following the seminar, Prof. Allard van Riel joined a round-table discussion with Prof. Mikhail Rykhtik (Director of the Institute of International Relations and World History, UNN) and Prof. Marina Malkina (the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship, UNN). They debated the role of universities in the modern society. The round-table discussion at UNN also touched on how multiculturalism relates to, or departs from, academia.
