Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod (UNN) and Pamukkale University have announced a partnership to intensify cooperation and regular contacts, providing each other support for the introduction of lectures in the other country’s language and English.

In December 2014, two Universities signed a protocol of cooperation, which provides a valuable framework for exchange activities, joint research projects, seminars and conferences as well as exchange of academic and scientific information and arts exhibitions. The protocol says that its aim is ‘to improve the staff and students’ point of view of the world by showing them different cultures and introducing them to new languages.’

In addition to the Protocol, an inter-institutional agreement for 2014 - 2021 was signed to develop the exchange of academics and students in Humanities in the context of the Erasmus+ programme.

UNN academics say that archeology seems a promising direction to cooperate. Turkey has plenty of sites of cultural heritage of antiquity and UNN archaeologists have considerable experience conducting excavations at Crimea’s ancient sites. The Institute of International Relations and World History (IIRWH) is responsible for making cooperation possible in this and other fields.

“Middle East countries, notably Turkey, are within the scope of research being undertaken at the Institute. Our academics are invited to give guest lectures at Turkish scientific and educational centres, and our students are actively studying Turkish,” IIRWH Director Mikhail Rykhtik said.
