A joint delegation of two Russian universities, UNN and Perm National Research Polytechnic University, visited Purdue University, the U.S. from October 5 to 10 to participate in the Incubator of Innovators, an international program launched under the multiyear partnership, EURECA, aimed at strengthening efforts by these two Russian National Research Universities to commercialize their research and foster student entrepreneurship.

The delegation was comprised of the universities’ vice-rectors, staff and winners of the Third Annual Innovation Business Ideas Competition, InnoBusiness. Mr. Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, headed our team that included: Mr. Gleb Beliaev, a student of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics and the creator of Cardio Analytics, a blood pressure forecast device, Mr. Pavel Burago, a student of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics and the inventor of Smart Chat, Miss Mariia Yashanova, a PhD student of the Faculty of Biology and the inventor of a diagnostic system for the detection of diabetes complications, Mr. Egor Petrakov, a PhD student of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, who has developed a system of control and damping of vibration, and Mr. Alexandr Riabov, a PhD student of the Faculty of Radiophysics, who has introduced a new car ignition system. 

The delegates met with the members of the divisions responsible for innovation development at Purdue University: Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship, the Purdue Research Park, the Purdue Discovery Park, Krannert School of Management, the Purdue Research Foundation, and the business incubator. Round-table discussions highlighted the issue of the development of student entrepreneurial skills required by industries. In fact, these skills were put to the test during the visit. The students underwent an intensive coaching course in pre-investment marketing. The results were judged and presented to the staff and students of Purdue University who attended our innovators’ targeted presentations of their products.
