Mr. Vladimir Remek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in the Russian Federation, visited the Czech Centre for Education and Culture of Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod (UNN) on September 10, 2014.

The Ambassador was welcomed by students studying Czech, staff and representatives of the regional administration.

First Vice-Rector Mr. Alexander Grudzinskiy said he was greatly honoured to receive Mr. Vladimir Remek at Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod and accompanied the Ambassador to a meeting room. The delegation of the Czech Republic was offered hospitality and invited to discuss the cooperation, which had lasted nearly a decade.

On March 4, 2005, the Czech Centre for Education and Culture of UNN– the first one in Russian regions – was established to provide teaching of the Czech language and strengthen ties between two nations. Mr. Stanislav Rylov, current Head of the Czech Centre, together with Mrs. Liudmila Ruchina, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, has expanded the activities of the centre. Nowadays the centre has tight cooperation with University of Ostrava and Masaryk University. The latter is situated in Brno, where Mr. Vladimir Remek went to school. As exchange visits of students and teachers occur every year, there are many chances of building friendships and developing joint research and education projects.

At the end of the meeting, students sang a melodious song.
