Andrey Dolotov and Anastasiia Malkova, students of Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, participated in the XIII World University Badminton Championship, which was held in Cordoba, Spain from July 22 to 29.

Russian Badminton team was coached by Alexandr Gutko, Head of the Department of Sports Games at Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod (UNN). The delegation was headed by Vadim Kuzmin, Dean of UNN Faculty of Physical Education and Sports.

Russia had a win over Sri Lanka and lost against Japan and Switzerland taking third place in Group C. The team reached the final stage competing for places 9-12 and defeated the team of Australia, 3-0, thus securing 9th place in the XIII World University Badminton Championship.

“All players of Russian Badminton Team showed character. Andrey Dolotov led our team to victory,” Vadim Kuzmin said.

In 2012, Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod Badminton Team became a champion at the First European University Games, which were hosted in Cordoba. This year, luck was not on our side.
