Experts of Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod (UNN) took part in ISC 2014, the largest supercomputing conference in Europe, which was held on June 22-26 in Leipzig, Germary. ISC 2014 is considered ‘a key global conference and exhibition for high performance computing, networking and storage’, that is ‘famous for its world-class program’ and convenes a meeting of about 300 IT professionals from academic laboratories and the world’s largest PC manufacturers.

Sergey Bastrakov, Junior researcher at Software department at Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod, made a presentation on simulation of plasma dynamics using the Particle-in-Cell method carried out on CPUs, GPUs and Xeon Phi Coprocessors during ISC Research Poster Session on Monday, June 23. This presentation was the product of research collaboration between UNN and the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IAP RAS) and was chosen by ISC Research Poster Committee as one of 14 posters to be demonstrated at ISC 2014.

The ISC attendees had a chance to come by UNN stand at the exhibition and see the latest research results achieved in supercomputing technology and high-performance computing by UNN research team as well as posters about Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod, its computing cluster, university-corporate partnerships and academic programmes in this field.
