On May 13-15, 32th International Baltic Student Sports Games (SELL GAMES 2016) were held in the Finnish city of Tampere. A total of 63 universities from 10 countries took part in the tournament, including 3 Russian universities: Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod, Leningrad State University and Kalmyk State University. Students competed in 11 sports: light athletics, basketball, volleyball, orienteering, mini-football, table tennis, judo, chess, wrestling, rugby, and badminton. This year's tournament was for the first time attended by athletes from China, who are the world sport leaders in many disciplines, thus raising the level and status of SELL GAMES.

Lobachevsky University participated in the Baltic Games for the 11th time. The sports delegation of UNN was led by Victor Tsyganov, Dean of the Faculty of Law and comprised teams in women's basketball, table tennis, badminton and athletics. Our badminton players Yulia Rumyantseva (the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship) and Anastasia Malkova (the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport) have won the third place in the women's doubles category. It was an impressive achievement taking into account the fact that they had to compete with very strong rivals from China who won the first place.

According to Alexander Gutko, Head of the UNN Department of Team Sports, UNN students have gained valuable game experience when meeting Chinese athletes face to face. These competitions have opened new horizons for their sporting achievements.

Now, UNN athletes look forward to the 33rd SELL Games to be held in Latvia next year.
