Research objective:

To explore theoretical and practical aspects of cultural landscape conservation (in particular, in the Nizhny Novgorod region), the cultural landscape’s relationship with the natural landscape, and the subject-environment relationship in contemporary arts and cultural heritage sites.

2022
1. On November 11-12, 2022 the Institute of Philology and Journalism hosted the First All-Russian Scientific and Practical Interdisciplinary Conference "Environment. Culture. Text". The collection of conference materials is being prepared for printing.

  1. Practical seminar "Cultural heritage as a part of comfortable environment (case study of Nizhny Novgorod)" was held for the students of the UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism on November 9, 2022 with the participation of experts from the city cultural projects ("Krasny Prosveshchenets" Quarter, "Protected Areas")
  2. Experimental work on application of the Lecta computer software package for research of fiction text (M. Gorky's cycle "Quick Notes") was performed. The program was used to systematize the main cultural, philosophical and other concepts that appear in the cycle, to identify semantic nuances and parallels used by the author in the context of the problems and prospects of Russia's social development at the turn of the 20th century.
  3. The database "Electronic Managed Course "The City as a Text: Theory and Practice" has been developed. The course contains lecture materials concerning the main approaches to the study of urban space within the framework of philological problems, assignments for monitoring the quality of acquisition of lecture material, as well as systematically organised information aimed at forming an idea of the ways of studying the city as a system of signs.
  4. Work has started to develop an electronic managed course on the mooc.unn platform "Ecocultural Landscape of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" covering the specific features of the cultural landscape of the Nizhny Novgorod region and various aspects of interaction between the cultural environment and the natural and other factors of its formation.
