The portal "Superjob for Students" has published the 2017 rating of Russian universities reflecting the level of salaries of university graduates working in the IT industry who finished their studies in 2011-2016. Only 49 universities in Russia train professionals who earn high salaries in the field of IT. At the top of the 2017 list is the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University). This year, the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO) entered the top three for the first time, moving the Moscow State University to the fourth place. The annual rating of the Superjob agency is based on a comparison of salary expectations of 2011—2016 graduates. The rating also takes into account the average Unified State Examination score required for admission, and the percentage of graduates who remain to work in the city where they studied.
