01 March 2017

On February 16-17, 2017 the first international conference “Modern Technologies of Mathematical Education for Engineering Students – MetaMath” was held at the Saint-Petersburg State Electrotechnical University. The aim of the conference was to consider international and Russian best practices of mathematical education for students in the field of engineering and technology and to discuss the results of the international Tempus Project: MetaMath (Modern Educational Technologies for Math Curricula in Engineering Education of Russia). The project was implemented over three years (from November 2013 to February 2017) by a consortium of universities that included two universities in Germany, one in France, one in Finland, 5 universities in Russia (including Lobachevsky University) and the Association for Engineering Education of Russia.

This project has resulted in the modernization of two courses taught at the UNN Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics (IITMM): mathematical analysis and mathematical modeling. The courses have been updated with the account of the experience of the leading European universities. Besides, e-learning technologies  have been implemented in the teaching and learning process. UNN’s results in this area were presented at the conference by Associate Professor O. Kuzenkov, Deputy Director of the Institute, in his plenary report,  and in some section reports made by IITMM faculty members.
