Senior lecturer Andrey Leonov of the UNN Faculty of Law,  project manager of Jean Monnet projects at Lobachevsky University, took part in the IV International theoretical and practical conference "Migration Processes: Trends, Challenges, Prospects", which was held at the Law Faculty and the Jean Monnet Center for Excellence in the field of European integration VOICES+  of Kazan Federal University on April 28-29, 2017.

Within the framework of the conference, an international roundtable "Migration and Conflicts: The EU and Russia's Experience" was organized. The conference and the round table participants discussed a range of issues concerning the prevention of conflicts related to migration, in particular the migration policies of the EU and Russia; economic migration; ethnic and religious aspects of migration; the Muslim factor in migration; legal regulation of migration; types of contemporary migration conflicts. Attending the two events were leading experts and scholars in the field of international and European law, migration, economics, sociology, political science, journalism, representatives of public authorities, judicial bodies of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.As an outcome of the conference, the majority of its participants agreed that migration cannot be perceived as a crisis and an extraordinary phenomenon, it is rather a form of adaptation, a natural process that requires careful and competent regulation, including comprehensive legal regulation. The roundtable also formulated the main legal problems in the field of migration regulation and proposed some ways to solve them.
