On July 22, the International Conference “Volga Neuroscience Meeting 2018” opened on board the cruise boat "Mikhail Frunze" travelling from Nizhny Novgorod to Samara and back to Nizhny Novgorod. The main organizer of the conference is Lobachevsky University. The conference will discuss key trends and problems in different areas of neuroscience, various approaches and levels of understanding of existing problems, the ways to enhance scientific exchange between leading Russian and foreign research neuroscience laboratories. About 200 scientists from all over the world, including Russia and CIS countries, are taking part in the conference.

Among the speakers of the conference are such well-known experts in neurobiology and brain sciences as V. Tarabykin, Director of the Institute of Cell Biology and Neurobiology at Charité Clinic (Germany), Head of the UNN Laboratory of Brain Development Genetics; D. Rusakov, Professor at the University College London (UK); A. Shilnikov, Professor of the Neuroscience Institute at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Georgia (USA); A. Dityatev, Professor of the Italian Institute of Technology (Genoa, Italy); A. Gorban, Professor of the University of Leicester (Great Britain); A. Zaikin, Head of the UNN Laboratory of Systemic Medicine of Healthy Aging; A. Kaplan, Head of the Laboratory of Neurophysiology and Neurocomputer Interfaces at the Moscow State University, Head of the Laboratory for the Development of Brain-Machine Interfaces and Applied Neuroengineering at the UNN Center for Biotechnology Development; V. Makarov, Professor at the University of Complutense (Spain) and at Lobachevsky University and many other neuroscientists with a worldwide reputation.

The conference consists of four thematic sections and four workshops that reflect the following current trends in modern neuroscience: "Developmental Neurology"; "Cellular Neuroscience"; "Neurodynamics"; "Neurorehabilitation"; "Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience"; "Systemic Biology and Age-Related Diseases"; "Cognitive Neuroscience"; "Neuromorphic and Neurohybrid Systems." The program of the conference also includes more than 10 plenary lectures by recognized Russian and foreign scientists, about 80 invited papers, more than 100 oral reports selected by the Program Committee, and a poster session. At least a third of the reports will be presented by young researchers and post-graduate students. The working language of the conference is English.
