100 meters to the medal: Lobachevsky University student wins silver at World Para Swimming Championship
Daniil Smirnov, a second-year student at the UNN Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, has won a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke event at the World Para Swimming Championship. The competition took place from September 21 to 27 in Singapore.
The Russian Paralympic team has won the medal standings of the World Swimming Championships, with 51 athletes from Russia competing for medals.
"With a margin of less than one second from the third place, I managed to beat the opponent from Spain. The winner was Andrey Kalina, the world record holder for this distance from St. Petersburg. I am satisfied with the result, and we are moving step by step towards the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics. The next international start will be at the European Championships next year, and I am currently preparing for these competitions," - Daniil Smirnov said.
