The best ones were selected in five nominations: "Volunteerism", "Creativity", "Civic Position", "Career", "Sport".
Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, addressed the young people at the ceremony:
"I congratulate all students on their professional holiday - Student's Day. Dear students, I wish you to go forward with courage, not being afraid to set high goals, achieve them and go forward again to create our common future. May the university be a second home for you, where your favourite teachers and mentors are waiting for you. Come back to us after graduating as partners and employers".
Svetlana Anufrieva, Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, is herself a former UNN student, and she was particularly pleased to visit the University on this day and speak to today's students.
"Such an important day for every student falls right in the middle of the exam session, but I hope that today you will be able to take your mind off the exams at least a little, and get positive emotions. I remember myself as a student and understand you today, and I wish the university to be a real home for you - as it was for me once. Here you get new knowledge, your profession. Within these walls you make and begin to implement your life plans, find true friends, try your hand in various fields, search and find yourselves," Svetlana Anufrieva said.
Maria Tatskaya, a 4th year student of the UNN Faculty of Chemistry, was among those awarded. She received letters of appreciation at once in two nominations: "Volunteerism" and "Civic Position".
"I represent the trade union organisation and the international club of students. I take an active part in the life of the university, in particular, I help to adapt international students who do not know Russian. Since my childhood I like to help people, I was involved in this activity at school and I continue to do it after joining the university. I enjoy it," said Maria Tatskaya.
