ECOLOGY AND CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SAFETY PROBLEMS:

- Estimation of toxicometry parameters and features of toxic action of substances of natural and anthropogenous origin, and also the analysis of toxicants in water, air, soil, ground, as well as construction, industrial and household wastes (accredited divisions);

- Ecological monitoring, bioindication and biotesting of objects and zoning of territories with respect to the degree of their sewage loading;

- Development of effective technologies for recycling of acid sludge, toxic agents, sludge masses, for land reclamation, etc.;

- Studying the ability of biologically active substances to remove heavy metals and toxins from human organism with the purpose of rehabilitation of the population affected by chemical contamination;

- Development of ecologically safe ceramic matrices for immobilizing radionuclides.

Main results:

- Competitive technologies have been developed for recycling of: lewisite, its mixtures with yperite and tanks that contained them; acid sludge; processing of oil slurries, sludge masses, and also for detoxication of building materials wastes (bricks, concrete, plaster) from the shops that manufactured lewisite, yperite, lead tetraethyl and an ethyl liquid;
- Methodological approaches have been developed to drawing up of registration certificates for water objects. Certification of 20 water objects in Nizhni Novgorod city and region has been carried out;
- Work has been performed for zoning the territories and water areas in the Nizhni Novgorod, Ivanovo, Kostroma regions and the republics of Chuvashia and Mariy El with respect to the degree of anthropogenic loading by sewage;
- Long-term work on complex monitoring of the «Surovatikha» elimination facility for intercontinental ballistic missiles financed by the US Defence Department in accordance with international contracts.
