From 24 to 26 November, the UNN Faculty of Philology hosted the 4th All-Russian Scientific Conference with international participation "National Codes in European Literature of the 19th-21st Centuries". The conference was organized by the Department of Foreign Literature and was attended by about 90 scholars from different cities of Russia (Arzamas, Arkhangelsk, Vladimir, Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Ivanovo, Yoshkar-Ola, Kazan, Kirov, Moscow, Nizhni Novgorod, Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Saransk, Simferopol, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Chelyabinsk), as well as representatives from Germany and Poland.

The reports presented at the plenary session emphasized particular relevance of the problem of national cultural and historical codes for the European region of the late 20th - early 21st century. Conference participants noted that in the context of Russia's changing role in the global socio-cultural space, of special importance are the studies of the interaction between cultures of Western Europe and Russia, as reflected not only in works of fiction, but also in the new media. This scientific forum organized by Lobachevsky University will contribute to the development of inter-university intellectual links and will help researchers to identify potential horizons of the problem that brings them together.
