The First Russian Quantum Hackathon took place at Lobachevsky University from 21 to 24 November. The event was organised by the Research and Education Centre of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Quantum Valley Innovative Science and Technology Centre and Lobachevsky University. The Russian Quantum Centre was the partner of the hackathon.

Over 100 students, postgraduates and young scientists took part in the on-site round of the hackathon. In total, more than 300 applications were submitted from 25 leading Russian universities, representing Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Sochi and Nizhny Novgorod. This year's All-Russian Quantum Hackathon gathered the largest number of participants in the history of the event.

The aim of the hackathon is to actively develop and popularise quantum technologies. Its participants are offered a unique opportunity to apply these technologies to solve practical problems in various branches of science. The programme of the event included lectures by leading scientists, panel discussions, master classes and round tables held by experts in the field of transferring fundamental technologies into business.

23 teams took part in the on-site round. The results were as follows:

  • 1st place - "QGood" team (National Research Technological University MISIS); besides, this team won the scientific quiz as part of the hackathon’s cultural programme;
  • 2nd place - "Quantellion" team (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Quantum Technology Centre);
  • 3rd place - "FianQ" team (Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences).

The winning teams received certificates for 50, 75, 100 thousand roubles, respectively.
