On 19 July, a traditional gala event dedicated to the graduation of international students took place at Lobachevsky University. It was held as part of the All-Russian Student Graduation-2024. This year, about 200 foreign citizens from 37 countries, including Egypt, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Morocco, Uzbekistan, China, Serbia, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Congo and other countries, received diplomas of higher education in Bachelor's, Specialist and Master's programmes.

The UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine became the absolute leader in terms of the number of international graduates this year. The Institute of International Relations and World History  and the Institute of Economics of Lobachevsky University were also among the three units with the highest number of graduates from other countries.

"Lobachevsky University is an international university. We cooperate with dozens of scientific and educational organisations all over the world. Our students include more than 2000 foreign citizens from almost a hundred countries. We do our best to make them feel at home. Our key task is to create comfortable conditions for learning, and the fact that the number of international students and partners of UNN is growing every year shows that we are solving this task successfully," said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.

On this day, international students who completed their studies at the university took part in establishing new traditions: they planted in the campus park the "Alumni Tree", a Siberian cedar, which is one of the symbols of Russia. Besides, a time capsule with messages for future graduates was also planted next to the tree.

Miguel Angel Araniva Martinez from El Salvador graduated with honours from the Master's programme at the UNN Faculty of Social Sciences. According to the young man, he has always been interested in Russia and was happy to have the opportunity to study here:

"UNN is a very strong university. I chose the area of study "Cyberpsychology" that focuses on how a person deals with technologies. At the same time, there are great opportunities to develop.  I am happy with the training, we studied very interesting topics: virtual reality, neural networks, programming. These are real and useful skills to get a job".

Miguel plans to start working and to apply in a year for a postgraduate programme at Lobachevsky University.

When I was looking for a place to study, I saw that Lobachevsky University had very well developed scientific relations and many international projects. And now I am also involved in one of these research projects," said Dhananjay Singh.

Ali Al Galghif came to Nizhny Novgorod from Syria and is proud that he and his classmates this year became the first dentistry graduates of the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine:
