Almost 900 IT graduates of Lobachevsky University complete their studies in 2023
876 graduates of Lobachevsky University in the IT profile have completed their studies in 2023. This was announced by Oleg Trofimov, Acting Rector of the University. As he said, IT training is conducted at the Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics (IITMM), the Faculties of Physics and Radiophysics, the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship, as well as at the Arzamas, Dzerzhinsk, Balakhna and Pavlovsk branches of Lobachevsky University.
«This year, the University is graduating 496 bachelors, 70 specialists, 211 masters in the field of IT. In addition, 99 students are graduating from secondary vocational education programmes,» — said Oleg Trofimov.
Most of all young professionals in the IT field at the university are trained by IITMM. On 6 July 2023, graduates of the Institute received diplomas of higher education in a ceremonial atmosphere. A total of 443 students graduated from all IITMM educational programmes this year.
According to Nikolay Zolotykh, Director of the UNN IITMM, the most popular IT areas of study in 2023 are: «Applied Mathematics and Informatics», «Fundamental Computer Science and Information Technology», «Applied Informatics» and «Software Engineering»:
«These are considered to be the most "IT" areas of study. However, in addition, there are many other programmes at the intersection of sciences, where you can get the skills to use information technology to solve problems in different applied areas. It is worth noting that almost 50% of bachelors continue their studies in our master's programme. In general, there is a stable growth in the number of graduates from year to year, and, undoubtedly, with the opening of the Neimark IT Campus, it is planned to significantly increase the number of IT graduates that the country needs so much».
The UNN Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics is the successor of the first Soviet Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, established in December 1963. Professor Yuri Neimark, one of the students of Academician Alexander Andronov, initiated the creation of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, and organised its work. In 2023, the 60th anniversary of this unit of Lobachevsky University will be celebrated.
