Lobachevsky University and the University of Novi Sad in Serbia signed a new cooperation agreement. The signing took place during an official visit by a delegation headed by Yuri Shalabayev, the Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod.

Lobachevsky University was represented by Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Affairs, as part of the Nizhny Novgorod delegation.

The event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing sister-city ties between the partner cities of Novi Sad and Nizhny Novgorod. During the working meeting, the city leaders signed a roadmap for cooperation, while university representatives confirmed their intentions to develop academic and research partnerships.

Over the past 11 years of cooperation, UNN has established an international multi-level partnership cluster in Serbia, which includes gymnasiums, universities, research organisations, public associations, and industrial partners. The cluster's development began in 2015 when Lobachevsky University started systematic work to build bilateral relations. A significant step was made in 2016 with the creation of the UNN Serbian Centre. Currently, 17 citizens of Serbia are studying at Lobachevsky University, and more than 50 UNN students are learning Serbian as a second foreign language.
