On 24 February, students and lecturers of Lobachevsky University joined staff members of the UNN Department of Youth Policy and the UNN Informatization Department to take part in an interactive seminar "The Culture of Safe Behaviour on the Internet: How Not to Become a Victim".

The event was organized by the Expert Council for the development of information policy in the field of counter-terrorism. The Council is tasked with drawing up such policy focused on specific categories of people, and assessing the quality of information materials to be prepared in the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2022. The aim of the seminar was to raise awareness of students on information security, and to shape a culture of safe online and social networking behaviour among the young generation.

Seminar participants discussed the following issues: how not to fall victim to extremist and terrorist organizations, how to avoid online fraud, rules of safe online conduct, information verification technologies in mass media to counteract disorientation of young audience, etc.

Lyudmila Makarova, Deputy Director of the UNN Institute of Philology and Journalism, made a presentation on technologies for verification of information in mass media in the system of counteraction against disorientation of the youth audience. Students of Lobachevsky University’s faculties and institutes took an active part in thematic discussions and expressed their desire to be trained for working in cyberguard information security teams.
