Cybersecurity Day at Lobachevsky University with Yevgeny Kaspersky
On 20 May, Lobachevsky University hosted a delegation of representatives from Kaspersky Lab headed by its founder and CEO Yevgeny Kaspersky, the author of the eponymous antivirus. The leading information security expert met with UNN students and gave a lecture on cyber threats and the important role of the cyberimmune approach in creating a safer digital world as part of the Kaspersky Lab Cybersecurity Day.
The lecture "Cyberimmunity for the Digital Age" was attended by more than 120 students and university employees who were keen to ask questions after the lecture. Yevgeny Kaspersky and his colleagues also met with the Lobachevsky University administration.
"We are delighted that our university is the first stop during the visit to Nizhny Novgorod of one of the world's top information security experts. Together, we discussed the terms of the agreement with Kaspersky Lab that will be signed at the CIPR conference on 22 May. Our colleagues are interested in cooperation not only in cybersecurity, but also in mathematical computing, artificial intelligence and a number of other research areas," said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.
Yevgeny Kaspersky noted that this was his first visit to UNN and he was pleased to establish coooperation with the leading university of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
"The cyber threat landscape is constantly changing. Information security risks are growing: attackers complicate techniques and can gain access to confidential data, affect production processes and the like. Therefore, today it is necessary to constantly improve the level of training of professionals in the field of cybersecurity. We are ready to share our experience and knowledge with universities and believe that such interaction will not only improve the quality of education, but also provide students with the necessary practical skills," added Yevgeny Kaspersky.
