On September 20, Czech Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Remek visited the Lobachevsky University Czech Center. This was his second visit to UNN.   The guest was welcomed by Rector Evgeny Chuprunov, Dean of the Faculty of Philology Ludmila Ruchina and Head of the Czech Center for Education and Culture Stanislav Rylov, as well as students of the UNN Faculty of Philology. The aim of the visit was to open the exhibition "The Emperor of Four Thrones. Fourteen Episodes from the Life of Charles IV", which takes place at the Faculty of Philology in the framework of the Days of Culture of the Czech Republic in Nizhny Novgorod.  Vladimir Remek also presented Stanislav Rylov, Head of the UNN Czech Centre, a medal for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Center and to the strengthening of Russian-Czech relations.

The Czech Center for Education and Culture was opened at the Faculty of Philology of Lobachevsky University on March 4, 2005 with the direct support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Russian Federation and the Administration of Nizhny Novgorod. The Faculty of Philology has been training philologists with the knowledge of the Czech language for several decades. It also has a long history of successful cooperation with leading universities of the Czech Republic, including Masaryk University and the University of Ostrava.
