Delegation from Anhui Province of China pays visit to Lobachevsky University
On 12 November, a delegation from Anhui Province of the People's Republic of China, headed by the Director of the Department of Education Qian Guilun, visited Lobachevsky University to discuss the development and enhancing of cooperation in the field of education. The delegation included Lu Chao, Vice-Rector of Anhui University of Science and Technology, Xiao Xin, Vice-Rector of Anqing Normal University, Zhuang Weiwei, teacher of the Foreign Languages Institute at Anhui Normal University, and Shao Ming, representative of the Department of Education.
The visit to Lobachevsky University was the first part of the two-day programme of the delegation's stay in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Addressing the guests, Alexander Bedny, UNN Vice-Rector for International Affairs and External Communications, noted that the University was pleased to host the delegation representing the education system of Anhui Province, one of China's most economically and technologically developed regions.
“Our territories are linked by relations of friendship and partnership. Lobachevsky University is already cooperating successfully with four universities in Anhui Province, and plans are being made to sign agreements with several more universities. It is wonderful that now we have the opportunity to discuss the expansion and deepening of our close cooperation in science and education,” Alexander Bedny emphasised.
In turn, Qian Guilun, Director of the Department of Education of Anhui Province, noted that he and his colleagues are especially pleased to visit the Nizhny Novgorod region in the year of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and Beijing, as well as in the year that marks the 10th anniversary of the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation between the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Government of Anhui Province.
In the course of the meeting and exchange of opinions, the parties noted that the interaction between Anhui Province universities and UNN in certain areas is of great mutual interest. In particular, the discussion focused on the exchange of teachers, participation of university staff in joint events and international conferences. The following priority areas were identified: development of interest in the study of Russian and Chinese languages, in particular, the activities of the UNN Asia-Pacific Centre, language courses; participation of Russian and Chinese students in summer educational schools; research in the field of information technology, biology, and humanities.
