Deputy Director of UNN Ageing Biology Institute Mikhail Ivanchenko addresses the session of Ecumene Forum
Dr. Mikhail Ivanchenko, Deputy Director of the UNN Ageing Biology Research Institute, took part in the Ecumene Global Forum. He spoke at the session dealing with health, active longevity and sustainability of the healthcare system.
"We have developed immune-inflammatory markers of healthy ageing. Now we can estimate biological age and immunological age, based on a set of cytokines. Immune-inflammatory ageing, or inflammaging, is one of the key mechanisms that lead to accelerated ageing. Understanding these processes helps to better assess the body’s state and its compliance with the healthy age status. Other important results include a new collection of epigenetic data from more than 30 countries and a study of the ‘world map’ of accelerated ageing," Mikhail Ivanchenko noted.
