Dialogue between universities and employers: results of the 10th International Conference
The 10th International conference "Best practices of interaction between educational organisations and employers" was held in Nizhny Novgorod. The conference was organised by the All-Russian Association of Career Centres, the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Lobachevsky University, MGIMO University of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the United Centre for Career Development.
The event aims to coordinate efforts in career support for students and graduates of Russian universities, to explore international approaches in career guidance for senior students, to implement new methods for developing career paths for students who took part in the SMO, and to enhance the role of university career centres in developing human resources potential across Russian regions.
"Enhancing the employment rate of graduates is a key strategic goal and a top priority for our university. This rate significantly impacts admission targets. That's why we are systematically building an ecosystem of cooperation with industry partners, advancing the university's Career Centre, and offering tailored career support for students with disabilities and international students. The university has gathered a wealth of effective practices, and we are ready to share them with conference participants. Of course, we expect our colleagues' experience will help us move forward," noted Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.
Taking part in the conference were over 100 representatives from federal and regional authorities in charge of personnel policy and education, delegates from 57 universities responsible for career guidance, international relations, and academic mobility, as well as staff from career centres and international departments of Russian universities.
"As part of the national project 'Technological Leadership', today's university graduates must possess strategic thinking. By collaborating with businesses, science, and the economy, we strive to adapt our workforce to the specific needs of the Nizhny Novgorod region's economic policy. Today, more than 32 universities and branches in Nizhny Novgorod are training highly qualified professionals who can contribute to the development of the region's scientific and technological potential. I believe that one of the primary objectives of the Conference is to optimise and develop methods and solutions aimed at creating an effective career path for future professionals in the region," said Ekaterina Solntseva, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The period from 2022 to 2031 was declared the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia by the Decree of the Russian President. The main objectives of the Decade are to attract talented young people to the field of research and development, to involve researchers and developers in solving the most important tasks in society and the country's development, and to raise awareness among Russians about the achievements and prospects of Russian science.
