A business breakfast for representatives of the education sector was held in Nizhny Novgorod on October 12. Elena Zagaynova, Rector of Lobachevsky University, and Olga Petrova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, presented their ideas and proposals at this business meeting that was focused on the health situation in schools and universities. Elena Zagaynova emphasized the importance of taking precautions in educational institutions: «Certainly, we must provide our students with the opportunity to study in properly treated and clean classrooms, but we also have to constantly monitor their well-being. We are very reluctant to go back to distance learning. Nothing can replace live communication, but if necessary, we are ready to provide quality education in an online format.»

«We have moved our teachers from the 65+ category to the distance learning format, and postgraduates who have the right to teach help them to organise practical classes. We are well aware that for many areas of study there is no substitute for working in laboratories, so theory is presented to students on the Zoom platform, and practical training is only provided in a face-to-face format. This is a good time to reset the university and use distance learning for our development: we are changing areas for study, providing co-working in libraries and so on,» – Olga Petrova told her colleagues.
