Eight projects by young researchers from UNN named among the winners of the UMNIK competition
Last week, the results of the prestigious All-Russian UMNIK competition were announced. The event is organised by the Innovation Promotion Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation as part of the federal project "Technologies" within the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy". Out of all the submissions, 500 top projects were selected, including 15 from the Nizhny Novgorod region. Eight of the winning projects were developed by young scientists from Lobachevsky University.
These projects from UNN include:
1) "Developing polycationic polymer catalysts for CO₂ capture and utilisation";
2) "Developing radiation-resistant magnetic field sensors based on the Hall effect";
3) "Designing new signal processing algorithms for multi-element antenna detection systems, high-precision direction finding, and localisation of radiation sources";
4) "Developing key «building blocks» for pharmaceutical substances using resource-saving microfluidic technologies";
5) "Developing a technique for depolymerising polymethylmethacrylate via the ATRP mechanism";
6) "Developing chemically active CeO₂:Ln nanomaterials with controlled Ce³⁺/Ce⁴⁺ ratios for microelectronics";
7) "Developing wound dressings based on fish collagen for burn treatment";
8) "Developing photocatalysts for water purification using polymer-stabilised titanium dioxide modified with silver nanoparticles".
"The success of our young scientists is the result of hard work, dedication to science, and, of course, the support of their mentors. The research topics cover a number of sought-after fields such as microelectronics, pharmaceuticals, ecology, medicine, and radio engineering. Each project has significant potential for practical implementation. We consistently support young researchers at every stage — from idea conception to realisation. The UMNIK competition provides an excellent opportunity for participants to take the next step in their projects. I wish the winners every success in their work on their grant projects and confidence that their developments will benefit society", said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.
The authors of the 500 winning research projects in the All-Russian UMNIK competition will receive support amounting to 500,000 roubles each.
