Elena Zagaynova: "Lobachevsky University is very well represented at DIIR-2021
On June 23, the 6th All-Russian Conference "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" (DIIR) opened at the Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair. Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Alexey Likhachev, Director-General of Rosatom State Corporation, as well as other guests and participants of the conference took part in a tour around the exhibition.
"This year's conference features over 450 speakers, more than four thousand participants, with 70 events taking place in Nizhny Novgorod. Information technology and digitalisation are priority areas, and a forum like this is very much in demand. An interesting format has been chosen for the conference: summing up the results of the five-year period and discussing what we are planning for the near future. There may be many points of view, but one thing is certain: the IT industry showed good growth during the pandemic. Of course, there are barriers and challenges that we need to address. In particular, the industry would have grown even faster if it had been staffed better. Our main task now is to expand training programmes for IT professionals, primarily in the field of artificial intelligence. Our region is ready for digital transformation, and we will take this chance," said Governor Nikitin.
At the stand of Nizhny Novgorod Research and Education Centre, the guests were shown a distributed IT campus, as well as the “1221” high-tech quarter and the “Quantum Valley” innovation science and technology centre. Research results of Nizhny Novgorod scientists were also presented, including some projects of Lobachevsky University: the Pchelka hardware and software system for real-time remote cardiomonitoring, the EDEM hardware and software system (developed jointly by Sarov Technopark, Lobachevsky University, Research Institute of Gas Discharge Devices, Smorodintsev Research Institute and RFNC-VNIIEF), and the project "Cyberpsychology: Solutions for Traffic Safety". Two projects of Lobachevsky University graduates, residents of the UNN Centre for Innovation Development, were also presented at DIIR-2021: the GoSpeak virtual reality English conversation simulator and a construction kit for VR simulators.
UNN Rector Elena Zagaynova noted that Lobachevsky University was very well represented at DIIR-2021. "Lobachevsky University on the first day of the DIIR-2021 conference was represented by five IT projects. Most of our developments were placed at the stand of the Research and Education Centre of the Nizhny Novgorod region. As the first university in the country to open the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics and to start training IT specialists, we certainly have something to show to our colleagues, partners and participants of the DIIR-2021 international conference," said Elena Zagaynova.
