"Ethical aspects of scientific progress"
On November 3, a meeting of the youth scientific club “Lobachevsky” was held at the UNN cafeteria. The topic of the meeting was "Ethical aspects of scientific progress". The event was organized by the Coordination Council of young scientists and the UNN Faculty of Philology. The meeting included a lecture part followed by the debates and was attended by thirty students and members of the Coordinating Council. Associate Professor Olga Naumchik from the UNN Faculty of Philology gave a lecture on the history of science fiction. The topics of the lecture included the relationship between man and machines, the emergence of cyberculture and the upcoming cyborgization, the creation of artificial intelligence and the ensuing problems, as well as artificial and virtual reality. The students were introduced to the main stages in the development of science fiction, with some examples of classical works in this genre. After that, students of the Faculty of Philology made their presentations on outstanding works of science fiction.
Youth scientific club events are held every Thursday evening at the UNN cafeteria. The range of topics is very wide, including aviation psychology, science fiction, artificial intelligence, social robotics, avatars, interaction of school pupils and students, and many others.
