First dentistry graduates receive diplomas at Lobachevsky University
On 24 June, diplomas were awarded to the first graduates of the Dentistry programme at the UNN Institute of Clinical Medicine. During the ceremony at the Assembly Hall, 59 graduates received their educational documents, including 13 international students from Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan who completed the Russian-taught programme.
Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University, addressed the graduates with welcoming remarks and congratulations.
"The Institute of Clinical Medicine is one of the youngest structural units of Lobachevsky University. The Institute has gathered a very good professional team, which fulfils the most important state task of training medical professionals. Our graduates are a valuable contribution to the development of the medical profession. They possess all the skills and abilities of a modern doctor. We tried to create all the necessary conditions for this: we opened the University Clinic, purchased modern simulation equipment. In terms of the number of international students, the Institute of Clinical Medicine confidently holds the top position among all our divisions: students from 46 countries of the world study there", said Oleg Trofimov.
Galina Karpova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, PhD in Dental Medicine, also greeted the new graduates and wished them every success in their professional work.
The field of study "Clinical Medicine" opened at Lobachevsky University in 2019 with specialisations in General Medicine and Dentistry. In 2022, the Institute of Clinical Medicine was established at UNN.
Addressing the graduates, Natalia Grigorieva, Director of the Institute of Clinical Medicine emphasised the importance of medical profession and the role of dentists in the modern world.
Currently, the Institute of Clinical Medicine has about a thousand international students. There are plans to increase this number. Comfortable conditions have been created for students from other countries at the university. Ali Al Galghif, a graduate from Syria, came to study without knowing any Russian. Now he speaks Russian fluently and links his future with Lobachevsky University.
"Lobachevsky University means quality education and friendly teachers. All conditions have been created here for international students. I am from Syria, and for us Russia is a country of opportunities, and UNN is one of the largest and most prestigious universities. I want to continue my studies in Russia in the residency, if I have a chance, at Lobachevsky University. In the future I plan to develop medicine in Syria. Thank you to all the teachers of the university, to the management, and thank you to Russia! Lobachevsky University will live in my heart forever!", said Ali Al Galghif (Syria).
The graduation of dentists who studied on the English-language programme will take place at UNN in early August, with 63 more graduates receiving their diplomas.
