On November 26, the three-day forum “Russian Language without Borders: A.S. Pushkin's Heritage and Pushkin Traditions in Russian Literature” opened in the capital of the Republic of Armenia. The event is organised by the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) together with Lobachevsky University. The forum is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia.

The event aims to establish an educational and cultural community of Russian language and literature teachers. The Forum brought together 120 philologists from seven CIS countries. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov and Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova greeted its participants via video link.

“The Russian language is the basis that helps us to come to know the works of the great classics”, said Olga Petrova.

”This is certainly a very important project for our university and for our countries as a whole. We live in a challenging period when the search for points of contact and friendship between peoples is of great importance. Our Forum is just such a platform. Even before it started, we saw participants from different countries getting acquainted, exchanging good wishes, smiles appearing on their faces. And this, in fact, is the main goal of the event - to make friends, to find something in common between us. Alexander Pushkin left a great legacy in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is with great honor and pride that we say that Pushkin is truly an iconic symbol for us,” said Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky University.

The Forum takes place as part of a series of events dedicated to the 225th anniversary of A.S. Pushkin. The Forum program includes panel discussions, master classes and teaching workshops.
