Green light given to Quantum Valley
Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has signed the Resolution on the establishment of the Quantum Valley Innovation Science and Technology Centre (ISTC) in Nizhny Novgorod. The initiative to set up the Quantum Valley ISTC originated from Lobachevsky University. The Centre will be a territory with a special tax regime for organisations engaged in the development and production of high-tech products and services.
"The establishment of the Quantum Valley ISTC is an important stage in the development of the region's scientific and technological potential. We are grateful for the support of the Russian Government and its Chairman Mikhail Mishustin. The creation of the ISTC is fully in line with the objectives for the development of high-tech sectors of the economy set by the President of Russia. It is a great responsibility for us to implement such a large-scale project in science. The regional government, the Nizhny Novgorod REC and educational organisations have already agreed to consolidate their efforts when implementing this project," said Governor Gleb Nikitin.
"Lobachevsky University as the largest higher education institution in the Nizhny Novgorod region, being a carrier and generator of fundamental knowledge, has been working actively with research centres and industrial partners, including large enterprises of the region as well as small and medium businesses. This is why the UNN initiated the creation of the Quantum Valley ISTC in Nizhny Novgorod and will be an active participant in the Centre’s work. Together with modern industries, with existing and future partners, we plan to implement such large-scale projects as a super modern centre for personalised and high-tech medical care, sites for developing intelligent transport systems, advanced solutions for environmental conservation, production of new materials and many other projects," emphasised Elena Zagaynova, Rector of Lobachevsky University.
