Growth strategy: UNN identifies development priorities for the coming years
A seminar in the format of a strategy session "Expert and analytical support for projects of the UNN Development Programme" was held at Lobachevsky University. The event became a key stage in updating the university’s strategic guidelines, and in discussing future prospects for higher education.
For two days, experts, representatives from the university's administration and the academic community, discussed strategic goals, technological projects, and assessed the implementation of key development programme indicators. They compared the results achieved to global challenges and formulated practical recommendations for future development.
UNN Rector Oleg Trofimov addressed the participants with his welcoming remarks, emphasising the significance of the university as a hub for scientific and technological advancement in the region and throughout the country. During the plenary sessions, several key technological projects were showcased, including developments in software for critical infrastructure, creation of new materials for high-tech industries, and research in neuromorphic and quantum technologies for artificial and hybrid intelligence. These projects are significant not only within the university but also on a national level, as they aim to develop competencies and solutions that contribute to Russia's technological independence.
Special attention was paid to the strategic goals of the university's development, which include training leaders in scientific and technological advancement, integrating science, education, and technology, creating conditions to support future technological entrepreneurs, developing international cooperation, and strengthening human capital. The discussion revealed that the achievement of these goals is closely linked to the objectives of regional development and national priorities. The approaches developed could be used as a model for other universities in Russia.
The results of the session confirmed the importance of the university as a centre for generating ideas and innovations, which shapes its own strategy and contributes to the growth of the regional economy and educational environment. Lobachevsky University is moving towards a comprehensive transformation, based on the principles of integrating science and education, supporting talented individuals and developing technological entrepreneurship. The solutions that were developed will strengthen the university's position as one of the leading institutions in Russian higher education and provide a solid foundation for participating in large-scale national projects.
