A delegation of the UNN Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics took part in the International Conference on Parallel Processing and Applied Mathematics (PPAM). The conference is held in Poland every two years. Its scientific program includes plenary talks by leading experts in the field of supercomputer technologies, sectional reports of scientists who have received positive feedback from reviewers, and tutorials selected by the organizers on a competitive basis.

Faculty members of the UNN Department of Software and Supercomputer Technologies jointly with Intel engineers organized and conducted a tutorial on using Intel Distribution of OpenVINO toolkit software package for high-performance output in artificial neural networks. They also took part in the scientific program of the conference, making two sectional reports: Professor Victor Gergel presented his report on parallel global optimization algorithms, and Associate Professor Iosif Meerov made a report on the numerical simulation of laser plasma. Iosif Meerov also acted as a member of the Program Committee of the conference and was appointed to chair one of its sections. This year, the conference was attended by 170 scientists from 25 countries, including some leading experts in the field of  supercomputing: J. Dongarra (University of Tennessee), S. Matsuoka (Tokyo Institute of Technology), B. Mohr (Juelich Supercomputing Centre), D. Bader (New Jersey Institute of Technology).
